Job Description

Hackney Housing is seeking a Horticulture Development Officer – The role’s primary function is to survey and maintain the councils housing 7000 tree stock every 3-4 years within the communal green spaces on estates. You will also be responsible for enhancing and diversifying the tree stock by identifying locations and planting young trees on estates. There will be other, secondary duties involving arranging the implementation of residents’ food growing areas and improvement works to council’s green spaces within other departments.

If you have a passion for maintaining, enhancing and diversifying a council’s tree stock then this is the position for you. A knowledge of our tree maintenance package (EzytreeV) is an advantage as well as a proven track record in delivering tree maintenance.

Time will be split between tree surveys, responding to tree related enquiries, adding trees to the Council’s tree database and arranging an appropriate action. This is an opportunity for an arborist looking to expand on horticulture development or a horticulturist looking to enhance their arboriculture experience.

A recognised Arborist qualification is required.
