Haringey Circle is looking for reliable, self-employed gardeners to provide an affordable and trusted gardening service to older people and disabled adults across the London Borough of Haringey.
This rewarding role offers the opportunity to use your gardening skills to help people remain independent, improve their wellbeing and enjoy safe, accessible outdoor spaces.
About Haringey Circle
Haringey Circle is a local charity supporting over 850 older people (aged 50+) and disabled adults who may be experiencing loneliness, reduced mobility or social isolation.
Many members find it increasingly difficult to maintain their gardens. Haringey Circle is building a network of trusted gardeners to help keep these outdoor spaces safe, tidy and enjoyable.
About the Role
As a Self-Employed Gardener, you’ll visit members’ homes to provide general garden maintenance and help ensure gardens remain attractive, manageable and accessible.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in their work and enjoys making a positive impact within the local community.
Key Responsibilities
Grass cutting
Hedge trimming
Pruning shrubs and small trees
Weeding and the safe use of weedkiller where appropriate
Maintaining existing flower beds and borders
Small-scale planting at the client’s request
Clearing paths to improve safe access
Watering plants (where permitted during drought restrictions)
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
Has experience in garden maintenance
Can safely operate gardening tools and equipment
Has a good understanding of Health & Safety procedures
Understands the safe use of weed and pest control products
Treats clients and their homes with dignity and respect
Appreciates and values Haringey’s diverse communities
Has an awareness of safeguarding when working with vulnerable adults
Holds appropriate public liability insurance
Has a recent DBS certificate or is willing to obtain one (arranged by Haringey Circle)
