Job Description

The walled garden is part of the Occupational Therapy Department at Bethlem Royal Hospital, which provides therapeutic activities and vocational opportunities to clients with mental health issues and takes referrals from all mental health units on the Bethlem site, including all acute, specialist and forensic services.

We are seeking a Horticultural Instructor to join our team within the Occupational Therapy Department. This is an opportunity to co-ordinate, develop and facilitate a flexible, client centred programme of horticultural activities for individuals and groups of clients who experience mental health difficulties.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work within the Walled Garden in the Main Occupational Therapy Department and provide a programme of therapeutic horticultural activities for individuals who experience mental health difficulties. This will include managing the food growing project which includes activities in the therapeutic gardens, orchards and kitchens on a day-to-day basis and ensuring that Health & Safety standards are met.
