Salary: £27,000 and £31,000

Full Time: 40 hours per week

Job Description

A vacancy has arisen for an experienced Groundsperson to assist in maintaining the sports facilities at the Richardson Evans Memorial Playing Fields on Wimbledon & Putney Commons. The Playing Fields and Pavilion are home to rugby, football and cricket teams and also host a variety of other sporting events during the year.

The successful applicant will work as part of a small team and should have experience of working in a similar role, including sports turf preparation and the safe operation of machinery used in preparation and maintenance.  A full driving licence essential.

Applicants must also be able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills; be able to work on their own initiative and have a flexible approach to work.  They must be  prepared to support operations Monday to Friday and work one weekend in four (overtime is payable) during the football/rugby season.

Hours are 40 hours/week 7.30am to 4.00pm. In return, a competitive salary is offered – On appointment between £27,000 and £31,000. After a successful 6-month probation, salary will increase to between £31,000 and £35,000.  Off-site living allowance and a discretionary bonus are available, as is inclusion in the local government pension scheme.
