About the role
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Part-Time Environmental Education Instructor to lead engaging, hands-on environmental education programs. Based at Bromley Environmental Education Centre at High Elms (BEECHE) this position will assist with the delivery & development of a range of Countryside, Leisure and Environmental Education services delivered by idverde, as instructed by the Conservation & Education Manager. This will include environmental education from early years to Higher Education; SEND; educators; members of the public and community groups.
Role Responsibilities
- Assist in the delivery of Environmental Education and Events service to fee-paying customers.
- Assist in the teaching of a range of topics including but not exclusive to practical Ecology, Biodiversity, and Environmental Science including Field Studies to a range of user groups, including the delivery of the Forest Schools initiative.
- Assist in the delivery of outreach sessions at schools and other venues.
- Assist in the delivery of community events and birthday parties during school holidays and weekends.
- Be the first point of contact for the public at BEECHE, presenting a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors.
- Establish excellent customer satisfaction scores from all Environmental Education customers.
- Work with the Friends of Greenspace to provide support for Bromley’s volunteers.
- Support the Countryside team in delivering Ranger events.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience teaching to a wide range of learners including SEND.
- Demonstrable experience working in outdoor education and/or environmental education.
- Able to plan, develop, and deliver environmental education programs.
- Adapt lessons to different learning styles and ages, ensuring inclusivity and engagement.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the customer base.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment.
- Willingness to work in variable weather conditions.
- Certificate in Forest School Programme Leadership (desirable, not essential).
- Strong IT skills.
- Full UK Driving license.
