Salary: London Living Wage minimum (higher rates depending on age, qualifications and experience)
Hours:
- Cadogan Estate: Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm
- Royal Hospital Chelsea: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm

About the Opportunity
Tobyn Burnett Gardens is seeking two enthusiastic and reliable Assistant Gardeners to join their team across two prestigious London sites: the Royal Hospital Chelsea and the Cadogan Estate.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work within high-quality historic landscapes alongside experienced head gardeners and estate teams, supporting the maintenance and development of beautifully managed gardens and green spaces.
About the Role
Each site has its own in-house garden management team, with daily tasks planned collaboratively between estate staff and Tobyn Burnett Gardens’ lead gardeners.
As an Assistant Gardener, you’ll support a range of horticultural and grounds maintenance activities, helping maintain high standards across both estates.
This role is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in:
- Horticulture
- Estate gardening
- Historic landscapes
- Grounds maintenance
Please note: pay rates will depend on experience, qualifications and certifications, with London Living Wage as the minimum baseline.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the maintenance and upkeep of estate gardens and landscaped areas
- Assist with planting, pruning, weeding and seasonal tasks
- Work alongside lead gardeners and estate management teams
- Operate horticultural tools and machinery safely
- Help maintain high presentation standards across both sites
What We’re Looking For
Ideal candidates will have:
- Some horticultural experience or practical gardening knowledge
- RHS qualifications (desirable)
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Good teamwork and communication skills
The following would also be beneficial:
- Machinery certifications
- PA1 & PA6 spraying licences
