This course is a collaboration between Groundwork London and Capel Manor College, developed with input from the companies who manage London’s parks and open spaces – giving you the skills the sector is actively recruiting for.

Skills Bootcamps are funded by the Mayor of London and the Department for Education as part of the Skills for Life campaign.

What you’ll Learn:

  • Maintain plants and species, including safe pesticide use

  • Operate tools including strimmers and powered horticultural machinery

  • Gain knowledge on climate change and sustainable land management

  • Health & Safety for safe work on green sites

  • Work toward City & Guilds accredited pesticide units and Carbon Literacy Certification

  • Gain a Level 2 City & Guilds Certificate in Practical Horticulture upon completion

Eligibility

  • Aged 18+

  • Currently not in work, education or training (NEET)

  • Must live in a London borough

  • Must have the right to work in the UK

Course Outcome

  • Guaranteed interview with leading green-space employers

  • Work experience as part of the programme

  • Employability coaching and job-search support

  • Skills aligned to live vacancies in the sector

Train on-site at Capel Manor’s Enfield Campus, gaining real horticulture experience in working gardens. Learn from industry experts, develop hands-on skills, and work towards a City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Practical Horticulture.
