We are looking for a qualified and motivated Gardener to join our Course and Grounds Maintenance department, reporting to the Head Gardener.

Salary: £28,808 – £30,808 per annum + paid overtime

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (6:00am – 2:30pm)

Job Description

The Roehampton Club is a prestigious private members’ multisport club in Southwest London, featuring an 18-hole golf course, 10 grass and 18 synthetic tennis courts, 4 croquet lawns, and a variety of formal and informal gardens.

We are looking for a qualified and motivated Gardener to join our Course and Grounds Maintenance department, reporting to the Head Gardener. The gardens are undergoing an exciting improvement programme, and we want someone with the skills, passion, and attention to detail to help us deliver high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out soil cultivation, planting, weeding, mulching, pruning, edging, and bed preparation
  • Maintain propagation unit, poly tunnel, and nursery frames
  • Lawn care including mowing, seeding, and fertilising
  • Operate and maintain hand tools and light machinery (hedge trimmers, blowers, strimmers, etc.)
  • Seasonal tasks including litter clearing, gritting, snow clearing, and salt spreading
  • Apply chemicals where appropriate (PA1, PA2, PA6a desirable)
  • Maintain workspaces, tools, and facilities in a clean and safe condition
  • Support other areas of the department when needed

Person Specification

  • Essential: NVQ or City & Guilds Level 2 in Horticulture (or above)
  • Desirable: PA1, PA2, PA6a spraying certificates
  • Proven experience in general gardening and grounds maintenance
  • Self-motivated, productive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work
