Job Description

Reporting to the Park Services Manager and based in Lewisham, the successful candidate will be responsible for contributing fully to the effective running of all aspects of Infrastructure Maintenance for the Lewisham Parks and Open Spaces contract. This full-time and permanent role will involve working in small multi-skilled teams, who carry out infrastructure installation and repairs to park furniture, play areas, footpaths, fencing, buildings, and other features in parks and open spaces across the Lewisham contract.

Based on our Lewisham Contract, you will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of reactive and planned maintenance jobs, liaising with different suppliers, obtaining quotations, organising materials, repairing, and maintaining parks infrastructure (e.g., play equipment, paths, benches, fences, park buildings, etc.).

The main areas of responsibility will be to oversee the smooth running of the Infrastructure Maintenance team.

Duties will include assisting the Contract Manager in the efficient running of the contract.

This is a hands-on position, and the successful candidate will be required to set time frames and quality expectations and lead by example.

Key responsibilities will include working together with the Park Services Manager in developing the day-to-day reactive and proactive infrastructure maintenance of park buildings, sports pavilions, play areas, and the hard landscape environment.

The candidate will be able to demonstrate relevant team management skills, leadership experience, and hold recognised practical qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 in carpentry, plumbing, etc, and hold at least 2 years of experience in a similar field.

A strong understanding and commitment to health & safety and a full UK driver’s licence are required. The ability to tow is desirable, along with holding a CSCS card.

The ideal candidate will need to be flexible, reliable, and have the ability to work under pressure to meet any deadlines required. The candidate must have excellent people skills and be a good communicator.
