Salary: £37,028 – £41,642 per annum

Job Description

About the Role

As Tree Officer, you will take ownership of a range of tree-related planning applications and provide specialist arboricultural advice to support sustainable development across the district.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing applications for works to protected trees
  • Processing Tree Preservation Order (TPO) applications
  • Reviewing notifications for works within Conservation Areas
  • Providing arboricultural input to planning applications
  • Supporting pre-application enquiries and appeals
  • Undertaking site visits and inspections
  • Working closely with planning officers and stakeholders
  • Contributing to the protection and enhancement of the district’s tree stock

Trees are a vital part of Mole Valley’s natural and built environment, and this role plays an important part in ensuring their long-term protection and management.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Holds a recognised arboricultural qualification (or qualification in a closely related discipline)
  • Has experience assessing the amenity value and management of trees
  • Is enthusiastic about developing a career in tree protection and planning
  • Is a positive, self-motivated and proactive individual
  • Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team
  • Has strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Holds a full driving licence and has access to a vehicle for work purposes
