Job Description
About the role:
Waltham Forest is looking to recruit an Environmental Initiatives Manager to provide overarching support to the Parks and Open spaces team.
The role is designed to deliver high quality community driven projects for example Spring Clean, bulb giveaway, Bee Friendly Streets and Food Growing networks in addition the role is also responsible for providing the Allotments service and managing the tree maintenance contract in the borough.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting existing and developing new community and volunteer projects across the borough of Waltham forest.
We are looking for a candidate who also has a wide range of experience in parks and open spaces who has excellent communication skills to enable them to work with wide ranges of stakeholders and partnership organisations.
A proven ability to analyze data to generate complex reports will also be a primary element of the role.
The right candidate will also have to demonstrate experience in high value contract monitoring and managing operational services like Allotments or Arboriculture.
The role as deputises for the Head of Parks and Open spaces
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Management
Managing a small team of Tree Surveyors and Allotments officer
Developing and supporting volunteers services and events within the community ,Spring Clean, Bulb Giveaway, Bee Friendly Streets, London in Bloom, Community toilets scheme
Budget management and monitoring
Grant applications and funding opportunities for Tree planting or Allotments
Deputising for the Head of Parks and Open spaces
Qualifications and Requirements:
Degree or equivalent experience in Greenspace services
Terms and conditions:
Satisfactory employment references and CIFAS identity checks;
Satisfactory declaration of interest;
Satisfactory DBS check;
Suitable driver’s license;
