Our mission

We’re opening the door to the next generation of construction workers, while benefiting local communities.

We utilise our centres to attract and train local people considering work in construction and up-skill those already in the sector.

Working in partnership with councils and property developers, we’re matching a site-ready workforce to local employment opportunities.

OPEN TO ALLNo matter what your background is, there are employers that are seeking your skills. As the industry has evolved, construction jobs and workplaces have become increasingly diverse and inclusive.

INNOVATIVE ON AND OFF-SITE TRAINING

Each of our centres offer innovative, on and off-site training that guarantees a quality learner experience. We’re actively developing a site-ready workforce and wider talent pool for employers.

LOCAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

By working in collaboration with employers, we match our training with employment opportunities. We’re benefiting local communities and laying the foundation for industry improvement.

FLEXIBLE LEARNING

By listening to organisations and learners, we’ve been able to respond to the needs of employers, individuals and the communities in which they live and work. We dedicate our resources to support learning success.

The Skills Centre have a range of different types of courses that can help you in your journey

  1. NVQs – National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) allow learners to specialise in a specific field, to improve their competency and effectiveness in a role. We offer NVQs from Level 2 to Level 7 that provide learners with the opportunity to develop skills for progression, or expand on expertise in a managerial role. Wondering what it costs to complete a construction NVQ? Ask us about funding and claiming your CITB training grant!
  2. Short Courses – Our Short Courses are learning programmes that offer a range of practical based skills training in a small space of time. A perfect way to upskill without the need for lengthy stretches of time off work, our short courses are ideal for those already holding a position in construction.
  3. Pre-employment Programmes – Ideal for those looking for a job in construction, our construction pre-employment training programmes in Non-devolved areas, London and Birmingham arm you with the level 1 certifications needed to get started on a career path within the industry.
  4. CSCS CardCSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) cards are important because they provide proof that workers have training that is both relevant and necessary to perform their job effectively and safely. To attain a CSCS Card, learners must have completed the relevant training. The Skills Centre provides training for all levels of CSCS card, as well as stand alone testing at our sites in London.
  5. eSkills Online Training – Online training provides supportive, flexible, and affordable learning, making upskilling convenient for both learner and employer. We offer a range of E-skills online training, including health & safety, business compliance, and mental health & wellbeing courses.
  6. Introduction to Cladding Occupations -Cladding occupations encompass various systems including rainscreen cladding, which is an external panel façade system that protects a building’s backing wall from the full force of the weather. These systems protect buildings against the elements, improve insulation and sustainability, and can be used to change the way a building looks. Installing these systems correctly and safely is vital, as poor installation can lead to poor performance and fire risks. Cladding occupations are specialist skill sets that are becoming increasingly valuable as the demand for sustainable and safe building practices rises.

This course is aimed at new or recent entrants to the construction industry, with their CSCS Green-card or above. The course will prepare learners for a career as a cladding specialist, providing the foundations and on-site experience needed to launch a new career. Those without a CSCS green-card might be eligable for funded pre-employment training, learn more here.
