Job Description

Bromley offers a relocation package of up to £8,000 and fantastic staff benefits.

The London Borough of Bromley is looking for an innovative and creative Director of Environment and Public Protection, who will serve as a leader and champion for the Borough as we continue to deliver on our corporate strategy Making Bromley Even Better 2021 to 2031.pdf . As a member of the Chief Executive’s leadership team, the Director of Environment and Public Protection will therefore have a key role in supporting and delivering our corporate strategy.

Bromley is the largest London borough by area, covering 59 square miles. Over half the borough is open countryside, much of which is Metropolitan Green Belt land.

The ‘Environment” is a key priority and a source of pride for the political administration in Bromley and for Bromley residents.

We are seeking a visionary and successful leader to effectively manage large and diverse teams, amongst the challenges and great opportunities to deliver effective and sustainable services across the Borough.

The Director of Environment and Public Protection will have overall responsibility for departments such as waste, street cleansing and enforcement, greenspaces, traffic and parking, highways, public protection, performance management and business support teams, whilst managing six direct reports.

It is an exciting time to join Bromley, as we continue to embark on the delivery of our Transforming Bromley 2024 to 2028 journey.pdf , ensuring that we deliver high-quality services that support and reflect our community.

The successful applicant will have experience and a great passion in effective leadership, embedding the organisations values and behaviours across the service, whilst building and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders, local and national organisations, and our members whilst also demonstrating clear political empathy and sensitivity.

If you wish to have an informal discussion about the role, please contact: Ade Adetosoye CBE (Chief Executive, London Borough of Bromley) on 0208 313 4652 or email ade.adetosoye@bromley.gov.uk
